About Bambi

Bambi is a device that lives on your keychain that encourages people seeking a serious relationship to meet "offline." Utilizing an online profile to set up preferences, Bambi will set up a blind date or notify you when you are “vibbing” (vibe-ing) with someone in the room. The device will also suggest what you can say to start a conversation.

Research

Based on research, the modern dating experience using apps and various websites is becoming very undesirable to young adults. Both men and women reported that they enjoy the access that dating apps grants them, but often find themselves nostalgic for the experience of organically meeting someone.

Sketch

After researching and framing the problem, I began to develop the concept and sketch ideas. I explored various shapes and sizes while testing with users to discover the most convenient and non-intrusive design.

Wireframe

I then wire created wireframes of the app to develop the flow and interactions. I mapped out how the device would operate and the patterns that would be used as indicators.

Prototype

The app plays a minimal role in this new dating experience, making the overall look and feel simple and easy to navigate. I built a prototype of the app to show how dating services could allow users to setup their preferences.

Telling the story

Since this device does not exist in the world, I created a concept video to tell the story and connect with possible users.

My Learnings

- Don't be afraid to be wrong and never make decisions based on your assumptions.
- A precise GPS sensor would be required to make this device function correctly.
- Using a mood board can help you design the look and feel, as well as tell the story of your product in a captivating way.

What's next?

- Build a working prototype of the device
- Create plan on how the device can be mass produced at a low cost.

- Pitch the idea to a company that offers dating and match making services.
